Re-Introduction

Hi.

I decided to start over. If you are a new reader, or an old one coming back, I didn't want you to get bogged down in the last 6 months to a year. Things got depressed and very untriathlon related. Now that I'm in the middle of starting over - sort of- career-wise, I thought that it would be best for me to start over triathlon-wise as well. Starting over seemed less overwhelming than trying to catch up. So let me re-introduce myself...

ShyTriGirl:

Shy: It is the best way to describe me in one word. It is not a disease, it is who I am. Sometimes I get hung up on this personality trait and call it my thorn in my side. Truth is - it is who I am, and if it wasn't for us shy people - who would you folks have around that would actually listen to you chatter all day long.

I can stand up in front of people and speak and make presentations - it is just not something I enjoy at all. Basically when there is a lot of people around my batteries lose charge quickly. If it is just you and me and we've known each other for a while, then my batteries charge up. It may take me 3 or 4 races to finally come over any introduce myself (just ask GeekGirl), but that is why they invented email and Blogs.

Tri: I'm a stress eater. I'm prone to depression. I may be in the Athena category for life. I started training for triathlons a couple of years ago, and found that it was an exercise regimen that I seem to stick to. Its challenging, it takes will power, and I don't have to worry about being all social with my team. Its just me, myself and I out there, and it doesn't matter how slow I am - my only true rival is myself.

Girl: Self-explanatory although I will say that I am a tomboy through and through. Thank God I had boys.

So there you go a quick re-introduction...

Upcoming races:
None... well I plan to sign up for the Bottomless Triathlon in July, but other than that one I'm not sure. Part of the reason for my lack of race season is because I'm still hoping to move. Yes for you old readers come back, my house has not sold and is not likely to sell for a while. No worries - we will just take life one-day-at-a-time. Meanwhile we have plenty of time to work on our future home (we call it our weekend home). It is a fixer upper and we are taking our time painting and fixing it up.

Another reason for the lack of races has to do with the theme of this post - starting over. My last race was a 5K on Thanksgiving last year. After that race I sort of didn't run much at all until March - the end of March. I also hadn't been on my bike since October. Needless to say I lost my base, so I'm building it back. The swimming is good - I've been consistently swimming 2 days a week during the whole "drop off the face of the earth" period, although I haven't been building endurance just working on strength and technique.

April was a good, consistent month (my first in many)

Swimming: 7,200 meters
Running (or run/walk/puke): 16 miles
Biking: 41.5 miles
Strength Training Sessions: 2 - I know, I know. I don't know what I don't like more - running or strength training.

That's all for now. Thanks!

Glad to see you back! Good luck with the house thing, hope your business is going well. Races will happen when they can, you'll get back to it I'm sure. Take care.

I'm not much for strength training lately, either.

Also, your description of being shy is great.
