Sore.

Okay this cartoon I wanted to post yesterday, but blogger.com...

I've always struggled with weight training programs - because maybe I don't like to feel weak. It doesn't bother me as much when a 70 year old shuffle walker passes me while I'm "running". I don't mind the lifeguards watching me with alarmed looks (only happens in my mind). Doesn't bother me as much when I'm passed by someone larger and more out of shape looking than me on the bike. But something about lifting weights, gets my goat.

This morning my shoulder blades (?) and hamstrings are sore. The really pathetic thing is that my strength workout last night consisted of: 2 sets of 12 for each (5lb dumbbells)- alternating dumb bell bench press, physioball leg curl (hamstrings are complaining about this one), 1 arm, 1 leg dumbbell row, split/squat lunge, split dumbbell curl to press, pushups. The pushups are supposed to be using the physioball - I can't do it. I can't really do full pushups, so I did girl pushups and suffered. Yes I am a girlie man girl.

I won't be able to do my scheduled swim workout tonight as I've got a city council meeting to attend, so I went for a short bike ride this morning and worked on peddling in circles. This helped work out most of the hamstring soreness, but my shoulder blades are protesting - especially my left one. My upper body is weak. I knew this before and I know this now, and I hope to persevere to change this.

The first cartoon reminds me of, well, me. Only in my case, I usually have a multitude of lame reasons why I can't go for my scheduled bike ride. :)

Here's one: I've canceled a morning run because getting up would disturb the sleeping kitties on the bed!
I'm looking forward to being done with Soma so that i can just focus on runs and weight-lifting. My leg strength is for S***. Good luck with the weight-lifting!
