I have not idea what to title this...

because I have no idea what to write, but I feel like I must update because I keep giving my sister a hard time because she is rather behind in updating her blog.
Here are a few things.

I've just about convinced Jeff to team with me in the Defined Fitness Duathlon in November in Rio Rancho. I think he might do the bike leg. He has 21 weeks to get ready, increase his mileage from 0 to 18 miles. I've helped him out in that his bike is currently getting a major tune up at the local bike shop that is never open. Okay it is barely open, but just barely. This means that I've got to get my running up to 6+ miles as my leg or legs will be two 5K with an hour or so in between.

Of course he's got to find the time to ride in between slowly moving a ton of our or actually his crap, er stuff to Tucumcari one trailer load at a time, working, playing basketball twice a week, finishing up little odds and ends around this place, branding - feeding cattle, driving to the ends of the earth to buy used farm equipment (currently on his way to Nebraska for a hay baler). Of course our place could sell at any minute and we'll be working all waking hours for a while to get ourselves moved. It makes me tired just thinking about it. I won't be disappointed if Team Byrd doesn't make an appearance this year, but maybe next year we'll be all moved and settled in and in between T-ball and other actives we'll give it a try.

My next Triathlon in my sights is the bottomless Tri at the bottomless lakes near Roswell. I am of course waiting until the last possible minute to sign up because or the potential move that is looming over our heads. Jeff had a developer friend come out Wednesday and take a look at our expanse (243 acres) and he said he'd mull it over and let us know his thoughts on Monday. Also we have a neighbor who is currently leasing our land for cattle grazing that is interested in buying 235 acres. If they get their financing, then we'll sell to them, and then try and sell the house on the remaining 7 acres. This will be more attractive to folks, and will probably sell fast. Maybe, just maybe we'll get this done sometime this summer.

Meanwhile, there is a little house w/ some out buildings on 5.5 acres within a quarter mile of our farm in Tucumcari that is for sale. It is little, but livable and easy to add on. The existing out buildings are a big plus as we need all the storage we can get. The farm has a nice shop and that dumpy single wide trailer - but the shop needs to be functional not a store room. The dumpy trailer can be storage, but we have a lot of stuff - trailers, equipment, tools, just stuff that really needs to be protected as much as possible from weather. Anyway I'll be headed to Wagon Mound again in two weeks, so I'll go through Tucumcari and take a look at the house myself, but we can't really do anything about it until we have at least earnest money on something here. Its hard to be patient, but I know it will work out the way it is supposed to.

In the mean time, I've taken a week off from training other than one trip to the pool. I'm trying to come up with a training plan to get my running up to 6 miles and maybe a teeny bit faster, plus preparing for the Bottomless and maybe the Midland tri and/or the F-1 tri.

That's it for now.

May recommend hill runs and cycling for this? It's actually in my neighborhood, and starts out about 2 miles from where I live. I did it last year; here's the race report if you're interested. The running is the same loop twice, and is pretty much straight uphill for the first 2.75 miles.

Hope the house works out.

Glad you are potentially 'doing the Du' as a team.

I hope I'm here that weekend. We have twin nephews bar mitzvah's in Chicago sometime in November. The way things go for me, it will end up being THAT weekend.

Hi there - following up for you!

E-caps rule! but unless you know what they are you might be searching for awhile...

e-caps, AKA endurolytes, sold by Hammer at your finest local Hammer product sales places (or you can buy online).

http://www.e-caps.com/za/ECP?PAGE=PRODUCT&CAT=ELECT&PROD.ID=4037&OMI=10104,10082,10047&AMI=10104

And yeah, you'll want to do some hill training to get ready for the Du.
